I have been playing around with nr.2 demo. when I try to motorize the hinges, they go crazy, they dont seem to obey to the limits.
is there a way to apply angular force to a hinge? - not the bodies attached to it
thanks!

in fact, even if I just change the hingeUserCallback to 2 (which I should in order to enable motors?) - and without adding any motorAccel commands, the boxes go crazy.

I'll look into it... I wrote demo02 when I was pretty new at Newton, so the masses / gravity are probably way out of whack. you certaily can motorize hinge joints- have a look at the "joints galore" demo, the doors on top of the box are motorized. it's pretty simple though. try making a simple demo with just a few bodies to get the hang of the commands. you last post makes me think that demo02 probably has some problems!!

Given that I used demo 02 as a base for my snake simulator does point to some chaotic behavior in that program as well. I guess I need to tweak some numbers and see what happens. -- TAZ

if you change the limits of the hinges of the trapdoors they explode as well. also, they explode if something real heavy drops on them (quite understandably!)
the problem with the compiling of demo 2 was the floor! just remove the floor code and add a new one from another demo and it works. its probably a DB issue, it just decides to not work at some point. It's things like that that really bugged me with DB in the first place, made me real nervous.
btw, the trapdoor demo also doesnt compile, needs renaming of some variables, "speed" and something else. and, hilighting of the commands dont work in the editor and help file doesnt come up with f1.

yup... I've made re-written versions of all of the demos for the next release, that use the new commands (NDB_BuildMatrix, etc), and comply with the latest version of DBPro. It'll be released as soon as the next patch for Newton (including vehicles!) is released, and I get it wrapped the next patch is supposed to be even more accurate and stable, so that should be nice as well ;D
