This is my first attempt of using the Newton Physics wrapper and thought you might like to see the outcome. This simple little program is a remake of the classic 'Jenga' tower game. Have a look www.geocities.com/pwhuk/jenga.zip

I can't seem to download the file... probably a Geocities problem...

Here is the file again for those who had problems with the previous link, and also a few screenshots this time too. Hopefully there should be no more problems downloading. Also the program is not yet finished, hence the poor intro screen, but the game is fully functional. pwhuk.freeunixhost.com/jenga.zip

wow, that's really impressive!!
the framerate is a little slow, but I'm sure it's because of the multiple cameras.
the game works great!!! the only problem I had, is holding the left button + rotating the mouse wheel caused an explosion, the jenga pieces went flying! ;D
great game so far, I hope you polish it off!!

Geocities does not like remote linking. Making a simple download page to visit will fix that problem. -- TAZ

I've just made a small update in the program, adding a slightly neater front page to it, and a layer count to the game. I will try and speed up the frame rate a bit, and do a bit more polishing, then hopefully realease the source code as a small tutorial, to help those use the wrapper pwhuk.freeunixhost.comand the file itself pwhuk.freeunixhost.com/jenga.zip

Just thought i'd inform you, the program has had a minor update, and I have also included the source code for the program this time, hopefully this will help someone trying to get to grips with the newton engine. You can find the file from the same place as before pwhuk.freeunixhost.compwhuk.freeunixhost.com/Jenga.zip

Wow this is extraordinary, I have fun playing it. It has some minor issues, but I thinks they will be fixed with the new Newton Patch (the solve is even more stable)
Hey perhaps you can make a post in the Newton Show case. I really like this demo because it demonstrates the handling of friction in a undisputable way. This is one of those types of game that is very simple conceptually but not too many physics engine can handle.
I also like the way the interface in coming out, good job.
Congratulation

Hello.
I have been playing the game for a while I noticed one small problem. I compared it with our real jenga game I think I know what it is.
In the real Jenga Game the blocks aspect ratio is 4 to 3 and in the digital is 1 to 1 So when they lie flat on the floor they look like rectangle with the shape of a TV screen. if they are square it makes the tower to collapse almost every time you poll a block from the bottom. The tower should collapse but only if you make a mistake. If it is done carefully it should state.
I think if you modify the geometry them it will be more realistic.
Also when we release the New patch you should test it with the New dll because it is more accurate.

Well here it is again, another small update. This version has a lot more stable tower, and wont fall over as soon as a block from the bottom layer is removed. Also a new menu structure to make it look a lot more complete. And finally, you can now visibly tell which block you are about to pull before you pull it, which should help prevent you pulling the wrong one out by accident. And one or two minor tweaks. @julio Jerez I didn't really understand what you meant by the aspect ratio's you were talking about, could you elaborate a bit more on it? Also I look forward to trying the new patch on this game once it's released!!! Same place again to get it pwhuk.freeunixhost.compwhuk.freeunixhost.com/Jenga.zip

he means that if you look at the end of a block, they aren't actually square, they're rectangle.
the 4:3 aspect ration means for every 4 units wide, it's 3 units tall. like this:
(4) [][][][] [][][][] (3) [][][][]
so if you want the pieces to 12 units wide, they should be 9 units tall.
h = w * (3/4)
w = h * (4/3)
